This wine is fruity with soft integrated tannins giving a long fine aftertaste. Emphasis is upon ripe fruit at harvest time and consequently the bouquet is strong and full of character with a deep, intense colour that takes on a brick-red tinge with age.

Domaine Mosse Bisou 2019
An exceptional summer red, the grapes were bought from friends who tend their vines organically and consist of Grolleau Noir, Grolleau Gris, Pineau d’Aunis, Cot, Gamay and Cabernet Franc. Interesting yet very drinkable. It is light, has complexity from the mix of grapes used and is quite moorish. Serve lightly chilled.

“Thomas Pico’s priority is to achieve moderate yields and full maturity. He picks rather later than most of his neighbours, judging the moment to harvest by flavour and appearance rather than laboratory analyses. Fermentation occurs in neutral wood, concrete and stainless steel varying, like its duration, by cuvée and vintage. Confronted by the tiny crops of 2016 and 2017, Pico elected to retain some of his 2015s for a later bottling, keeping them on the lees in tank for longer, an experiment he had long wanted to make. Pico is extending the Mise Tardive designation and approach to several other cuvées. Egly-Ouriet Brut Tradition Grand Cru NV
Based in Ambonnay, Egly-Ouriet are masters of Pinot. They farm organically, and many of the base wines are fermented in barrel. They like long ageing on lees. Dosage is low or zero. These are proper wines: sometimes a bit stern, but always worthwhile. 48 months on lees, disgorged July 2016. Very fine and detailed with lovely citrus and apple core, as well as some pear and nut richness. It’s quite dry and complex with fine herbs and juicy acidity. Grown up and sophisticated, this is fruit-driven but four years on the lees and another 11 months in bottle has given the first signs of toasty maturity.

Els Vinyerons Pregadeu Cava 2018
Pregadéu (‘Praying mantis’ in Catalan, the cuvées are named after the insects found in the vineyards). Mètode ancestral sparkling made from 100% Xarel-lo. This wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle using the original but unfermented grape juice. Disgorged too so the wine is crystal clean and clear. No added sulphites and with no signs of oxidation (so stable and good for glass pour). Dry and fresh yet fruitful and with good acidity too.

Etnella Petrosa Etna Rosso 2017
Petrosa is an Etna Rosso (still red wine) made from 85% Nerello Mascalese and 15% Nerello Cappuccio. From contrada (plot) Santo Spirito, where the vines are mostly 70 years old at an elevation of 780m. Fermented in wooden vats and matured in aged French oak barriques. At nose scents of little red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, balsamic scents and sweater spicy. Taste is very fresh, mineral, integrated tannins and long persistence.

Etnella Tracotanza Etna Rosso 2018
Tracotanza is an Etna Rosso (still red wine) made from 85% Nerello Mascalese, 14% Nerello Cappuccio and approximately 1% unknown indigenous varietals. From contradas (plots) Crasà and Montedolce, where vine age runs from 30-70 years at an elevation of approx. 900m. Fermented and matured in stainless steel for 10 months.

Not your typical Primitivo in any way and for us, in a special way. A pale ruby rosé color and unoaked in the cellar so this Italian wine drinks with ease – especially with a slight chill. Teres displays pretty red raspberries and almond aromas which carry through to the palate. Youthful, with balanced acidity and notes of warm southern spices.

This wine is intense, rich, elegant, and complex, with smooth, dusty tannins, soft red fruit, and mineral notes. Aromas and flavors of red cherry, red plum, mulberry, raisin, licorice, truffles, chocolate, mint, leather, cedar, and tobacco abound. Drink it now, but decant it if you do. It will age beautifully if you cellar it for a few more years.

A light, perfumed, fruity red wine. Ripe red cherry, redcurrant, liquorice and violet notes on the nose and the palate.
Giacomo Fenocchio Roero Arneis 2019
The light hay coloring is loaded with greenish reflections. The fragrance is soft and complex, especially inviting with aromas hinting broom, chamomile and fresh fruit. The flavor is pleasantly tangy, full and very persistent.
Gut Oggau Joschuari 2014
Joschuari is a complex Blaufränkisch, deep in style. It was matured in concrete which gives this red some edges with some acidity and tannins.
